Editorial Standards
Insurance is a your-money-your-life topic. Here's exactly how we research, write, and fact-check before anything publishes.
Who Writes This Site
Content on SR-22 FYI is produced and reviewed by the SR-22 FYI Editorial Team. We deliberately don't publish under invented "expert" personas with borrowed credentials — a practice that's common in this niche and one we think misleads readers. If a page names a reviewer, that's a real, disclosed team, not a fictional character.
Research Process
- Primary sources first. State requirements are checked against the relevant DMV, BMV, or Department of Insurance page directly — not against other blogs.
- Minimum two authoritative citations per guide, linked at the bottom of the page (typically .gov sources, NAIC, or the Insurance Information Institute).
- Carrier information is checked against the insurer's own site and publicly filed rate information where available.
- No invented statistics. Where we give a cost range or estimate, we say it's an estimate and explain how we arrived at it.
Review Cycle
Every guide carries a "last reviewed" date. Core guides (what SR-22 is, how filing works, cost breakdowns) are reviewed quarterly. State-specific pages are reviewed whenever we're notified of or discover a change to that state's requirements, and otherwise on the same quarterly cycle.
Corrections Policy
If you spot something out of date or incorrect, tell us — contact us with the page URL and what's wrong. We correct factual errors as soon as they're verified and note the update in the page's review history where the change is material.
Advertising & Affiliate Independence
This site earns money through display ads and affiliate relationships with insurance providers — see our affiliate disclosure. Commission rates never determine which provider we recommend, how we rank a comparison table, or what we say in a review. We also link to providers we don't have a commercial relationship with when they're relevant.
What We Won't Do
- We won't publish under a fictional persona with fabricated credentials, licenses, or degrees.
- We won't claim HIPAA, legal, or professional-licensure compliance we don't actually hold.
- We won't accept payment in exchange for a specific ranking or review score.
Questions About a Specific Page
Every guide links to its sources and shows a review date at the bottom. If you want more detail on how a specific figure or claim was sourced, reach out and we'll point you to the exact source.
